About Tony J
Building services engineer with experience of design, installation, handover and FM of commercial buildings
EngineerFrom early life as an air conditioning designer with Carrier Engineering I progressed through installation, commissioning and handover of large central systems then moved to gain experience.
This included the overseas department of a major contractor as well as a stint with consultants and a site based roles - both contracting and operational with hospitals.
For 12 years I held the engineers role on a research campus - responsible for the maintenance and development of high grade laboratories plus the instrument and transport workshops that were part of the service to its scientists.
Varied roles that have given me a wide range of experience in most building services as both provider and operator.
The energy performance of buildings is my current obsession - with founder membership of the Cibse EPG group and accreditations for low carbon consultantancy, DEC and Ac inspection roles following as natural progression.
Disappointment with Hmg and its constant vacillation on a credible Low Carbon agenda has triggered a withdrawal from all "official" initiatives - such as they are - but the interest remains. With the problem of achieving "zero carbon" for our existing housing stock being the current challenge.
